[¶0] Matthew.

[¶1] 47 Some of them that stood there, when they heard that, said, This man calleth for Elias.

[¶2] 48 And straightway one of them ran, and took a spunge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink.

[¶3] 49 The rest said, Let be, let us see whether Elias will come to save him.

[¶4] 50 ¶ Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.

[¶5] 51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom;

[¶6] and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;

[¶7] 52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,

[¶8] 53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

[¶9] Mark.

[¶10] 35 And some of them that stood by, when they heard it, said, Behold, he calleth Elias.

[¶11] 36 And one ran and filled a spunge full of vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink, saying, Let alone; let us see whether Elias will come to take him down.

[¶12] 37 And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost.

[¶13] 38 And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.

[¶14] Luke.

[¶15] 46 ¶ And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.

[¶16] John.

[¶17] 28 ¶ After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.

[¶18] 29 Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth.

[¶19] 30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

[¶20] 31 The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

[¶21] 32 Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him.

[¶22] 33 But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:

[¶23] Peter.

[¶24] 16 And one of them said, Give him to drink gall with vinegar. And they mixed and gave him to drink, 17 and fulfilled all things, and accomplished their sins against their own head.

[¶25] 18 And many went about with lamps, supposing that it was night, and fell down. 19 And the Lord cried out, saying, My power, my power, thou hast forsaken me.

[¶26] And when he had said it he was taken up.

[¶27] 20 And in that hour the vail of the temple of Jerusalem was rent in twain.

[¶28] Matthew.

[¶29] 54 Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.

[¶30] 55 And many women were there beholding afar off, which followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering unto him:

[¶31] 56 Among which was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedee’s children.

[¶32] 57 When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathæa, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus’ disciple:

[¶33] Mark.

[¶34] 39 ¶ And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God.

[¶35] 40 There were also women looking on afar off: among whom was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses, and Salome;

[¶36] 41 (Who also, when he was in Galilee, followed him, and ministered unto him;) and many other women which came up with him unto Jerusalem.

[¶37] 42 ¶ And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath,

[¶38] 43 Joseph of Arimathæa, an honourable counsellor, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus.

[¶39] Luke.

[¶40] 47 Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man.

[¶41] 48 And all the people that came together to that sight, beholding the things which were done, smote their breasts, and returned.

[¶42] 49 And all his acquaintance, and the women that followed him from Galilee, stood afar off, beholding these things.

[¶43] 50 ¶ And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counsellor; and he was a good man, and a just:

[¶44] 51 (The same had not consented to the counsel and deed of them;) he was of Arimathæa, a city of the Jews: who also himself waited for the kingdom of God.
