[¶0] A Prayer of David

[¶1] 1 Incline, O Jehovah, thy ear, answer me; For poor and needy am I.

[¶2] 2 Keep my soul, for I am meek: O thou, my God! save thy servant who trusteth in thee.

[¶3] 3 Have compassion upon me, O Jehovah! For to thee do I cry daily.

[¶4] 4 Gladden the soul of thy servant; For to thee, O Lord! my soul I lift up.

[¶5] 5 For thou, O Lord! art good, and gracious, Plenteous in mercy to all who call upon thee.

[¶6] 6 Listen, O Jehovah! to my prayer, Attend to the voice of my supplications.

[¶7] 7 In the day of my trouble I will cry to thee: For thou wilt answer me.

[¶8] 8 There is none like unto thee, O Lord! among the gods; And there is none [who can work] according to thy works.

[¶9] 9 All the nations which thou hast made shall come, And shall worship before thy face, O Lord! And glory they shall give to thy name:

[¶10] 10 For great art thou, And doing wonders, thou God alone.

[¶11] 11 Show me, O Jehovah! thy ways; I will walk in thy truth: Unite my heart to fear thy name.

[¶12] 12 I will celebrate thee, O Lord my God! with my whole heart; And I will glorify thy name for ever;

[¶13] 13 For thy mercy hath been great towards me; And thou hast delivered my soul from the lower grave.

[¶14] 14 O God! the proud have risen up against me, And a company of mighty men have sought after my soul; And they have not set thee before them.

[¶15] 15 And thou, O Lord! [art] a God compassionate and gracious; Slow to anger; and plenteous in mercy and truth.

[¶16] 16 Look to me, and have pity upon me: Give thy strength to thy servant, And save the son of thy handmaid.

[¶17] 17 Make with me a sign for good: And see shall my adversaries and be ashamed; For thou, O Jehovah! hast secured me and comforted me.
