[¶0] PART FOURTH.

[¶1] A Psalm of Moses, the man of God

[¶2] 1 O Lord! a dwelling-place thou hast been to us from generation to generation.

[¶3] 2 Before the mountains were brought forth, And [before] thou hadst formed the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.

[¶4] 3 Thou shalt turn man to destruction, And shalt say, “Return ye sons of Adam.”

[¶5] 4 For a thousand years in thy sight are as yesterday when it is past, And as a watch in the night.

[¶6] 5 Thou overflowest them; they will be a sleep: In the morning as grass he shall grow.

[¶7] 6 In the morning he (or it) shall flourish and grow: At the evening he (or it) shall be cut down, and shall wither.

[¶8] 7 For we fail by thy anger, And by thy indignation are we affrighted.

[¶9] 8 Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, Our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.

[¶10] 9 For all our days are passed away in thy indignation: We have spent our years as if a thought.

[¶11] 10 In the days of our years there are seventy years; And if through strength, eighty years, Yet is their pride [but] grief and labor; For it passeth by quickly, and we fly away.

[¶12] 11 Who knoweth the power of thy anger? And according to thy fear is thy wrath.

[¶13] 12 Teach us so to number our days, And we shall apply our heart to wisdom.

[¶14] 13 Return, O Jehovah! how long? Be pacified towards thy servants.

[¶15] 14 Satiate us early with thy goodness, And we will exult and rejoice all our days.

[¶16] 15 Make us joyful according to the days of our affliction; According to the years in which we have seen evil.

[¶17] 16 Let thy work appear towards thy servants, And thy glory upon their children.

[¶18] 17 And let there be the beauty of the Lord our God upon us; And the work of our hands direct thou upon us; Yea, the work of our hands direct thou.
