[¶0] To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David

[¶1] 1 Deliver me, O Jehovah! from the evil man: From the man of injuries do thou preserve me.

[¶2] 2 Who devise mischiefs in their heart; Daily do they congregate for wars.

[¶3] 3 Sharpened have they their tongue like a serpent: The poison of an asp is under their lips. Selah.

[¶4] 4 Keep me, O Jehovah! from the hands of the ungodly: From the man of injuries preserve me; Who plot to overthrow my goings.

[¶5] 5 Laid have the proud a snare for me: And with cords they have spread a net: By the wayside traps have they set for me. Selah.

[¶6] 6 I said, O Jehovah! my God are thou: Listen, O Jehovah! to the voice of my supplication.

[¶7] 7 O Jehovah, my Lord! the strength of my salvation, Thou hast put a covering on my head in the day of arms.

[¶8] 8 Grant not, O Jehovah! the desires of the ungodly man: They have devised, consummate thou not, they shall be exalted. Selah.

[¶9] 9 [As for] the head of those who encompass me, Let the mischief of his lips cover him.

[¶10] 10 Fall upon them let coals with fire: He shall cast them into deep pits, They shall not rise again.

[¶11] 11 The man of tongue shall not be established in the earth: The man of violence, evil shall hunt him to banishments.

[¶12] 12 I have known that accomplish will Jehovah the judgment of the poor one, The judgment of the afflicted one.

[¶13] 13 Surely the righteous ones will celebrate thy name, Dwell shall the upright ones before thy face.
