[¶0] To the Chief Musician upon Jeduthun. A Psalm of Asaph

[¶1] 1 My voice [I lifted up] to God, and I cried; My voice [I lifted up] to God, and he heard me.

[¶2] 2 In the day of my affliction the Lord I sought: My hand in the night was stretched out and relaxed not; Refuse consolation did my soul.

[¶3] 3 I will remember God, and will be disquieted; I will meditate, and oppressed with sorrow shall be my spirit. Selah.

[¶4] 4 Thou hast held the watches of my eyes: I am troubled, and will not speak.

[¶5] 5 I have recounted the days of old, The years of ages past.

[¶6] 6 I will call to remembrance my song in the night: With my heart I will meditate, And search diligently shall my spirit.

[¶7] 7 For ever will the Lord east off? And will he be favorable no more?

[¶8] 8 Gone for ever is his mercy? Fail doth his oracle from generation to generation?

[¶9] 9 Forgotten to be merciful hath God? Hath he shut up in anger his compassions? Selah.

[¶10] 10 And I said my disease [is only for a season;] The years of the right hand of the Most High [I will wait for.]

[¶11] 11 I will remember the works of God; Surely I will remember thy wonders from the beginning.

[¶12] 12 And I will meditate on all thy works, And on thy doings I will muse.

[¶13] 13 O God! in the sanctuary are thy ways: What god is so great as God?

[¶14] 14 Thou art the God who doest wonders; Thou hast made known among the peoples thy strength.

[¶15] 15 Thou hast redeemed by [thy] arm thy people, The sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.

[¶16] 16 See thee did the waters, O God! see thee did the waters; They were afraid; also tremble did the deeps.

[¶17] 17 The clouds poured out waters; The heavens gave forth a voice: Also thine arrows went abroad.

[¶18] 18 The voice of thy thunder was in the circuit, The lightnings illumined the world; The earth trembled and was shaken.

[¶19] 19 In the sea are thy ways, And thy paths in the great waters; And thy footsteps are not known.

[¶20] 20 Thou leadest like sheep thy people By the hand of Moses and Aaron.
