  • Russian: Максим Горький, «Исповедь» (1908), in the text Gorky prepared for his collected works (Kniga edition); from Wikisource. The editors’ commentary is left out.
  • English: Rose Strunsky’s translation, The Confession (New York: Frederick A. Stokes, 1916), Project Gutenberg #55828. Her introduction is left out. The Russian has no chapter breaks of its own, so the whole book is aligned by meaning and each Russian sentence sits beside the English chapter that renders it.
